Two new colorful works of art join 2024 Canoes on Parade

Two brand new canoes will join the Canoes on Parade roster in 2024, bringing the total to 15 canoes on display. The canoes will be on display mid-May through summer, with the two new locations at Collipp-Worden Park (artist Jenn Czecholinski) and Market Square (artist Jackie Warren).

Sponsored by local Chamber member businesses and painted with various themes by local artists, the colorful, themed fiberglass canoes will be on display so locals and visitors alike can stand in front of the upright canoes — creating a close resemblance to portaging a canoe — and pose for pictures, then share them on social media. Maps are available online and at the Portage Chamber office at 104 W. Cook Street.

This is the third summer the canoes are on display in Portage. Four canoes were added to the original nine last year. For more information about the project, contact the Portage Area Chamber of Commerce at 608-742-6242.
