Pride of America Camping Resort celebrates 50 years in 2024

Pride of America Camping Resort celebrates 50 Years

Paul Hagen worked most of his life in the dairy industry, either selling dairy equipment or as a sales manager for a regional ice cream manufacturer. His family has many fond memories of vacations camping across the United States – first in an army tent, then a pop-up, eventually graduating to a full-fledged travel trailer.

In 1974, Paul and six partners purchased the 100-site Lake George Campground. Over the years, Paul purchased the campground from his former partners to become the sole owner of what is now Pride of America Camping Resort, celebrating 50 years of “Friends, Family, & Fun” this year.

Today, you can find Paul planting and watering trees, cutting grass, driving the train ride, or taking his famous coffee break with the staff. Paul’s three children, Mike, Karen, and Pete, currently operate the 444-site campground, with some of the grandchildren as employees.

“With each passing year, we’ve grown and evolved, always striving to enhance your experience while staying true to our core values of community, family fun, and exceptional service,” said Pete Hagen.

The Hagen family credits their “amazing” staff, noting their “hard work and dedication” that have “been instrumental in shaping Pride of America Camping Resort into what it is today.”

There is an array of exciting events including themed weekends, live entertainment, weekend specials, and activities planned throughout the year to commemorate the milestone. Several improvement projects also marked the occasion. The small pool was resurfaced and a permanent volleyball net installed. Concrete sidewalks have replaced the old wood decks outside the game room and near the fishing pond. Eight brand new Limo carts are available for rent, too.

The campground can easily accommodate every kind of camper with full hook-up sites, rental cabins, cottages, and even a full 5-bedroom house. Among the fun amenities, the campground has a restaurant and a bar, two swimming pools, a kid’s Sprayground, a sandy beach on Lake George, fishing piers, sand volleyball, deluxe playground, game room, jumping pillow, horseshoe pit, fishing piers, laser tag, basketball, bounce house and much more.

Reservations can now be made for the 2025 camping season. Book online (book.camppoa.com) or call 800-236-6395. Pride of America Camping Resort is located at W7520 W. Bush Road, Pardeeville, WI.

While the campground has undergone many changes and enhancements over the past 50 years, one constant has remained: Paul continues to travel with his wife of 65 years, Colleen, and his family during the off season.
