2024 Chamber Annual Meeting & Awards

The Portage Chamber held its Annual Meeting & Awards Breakfast on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2024 at the Best Western with “Love Local” as this year’s theme. Accomplishments of the Chamber during 2023 were highlighted in remarks by President & CEO of the Portage Chamber Marianne Hanson, as well as a preview of great things to come in 2024. Senator Joan Ballweg was also on hand to speak about some pieces of legislation coming down the pike while the award winners also received a plaque of recognition from Congressman Glenn Grothman’s office.

An important component of the event – and a major reason why 90 dedicated members of the Portage Chamber attended in person – to support, celebrate and recognize the outstanding contributions and great service provided by the nominees in three different categories comprising the awards:

SUSAN WEYH BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARD – This award recognizes a Chamber Member business that has created a positive and long-standing impact in the community. They could have expanded facilities, made capital improvements, hired additional personnel, and continued to demonstrate leadership by their commitment and support in the Chamber and community activities. The business must have been in business at least three years.
Nominees: Forever Yours Jewelry, Inc. / Natures Way Landscaping and Snow Removal LLC / Suzy’s Steak & Seafood House

RISING BUSINESS STAR AWARD – This award recognizes Chamber Member entrepreneurs who have been in business five or less years. This award recognizes that starting a business requires a unique blend of vision, energy, perseverance, and talent. It is given to a business that has gotten off to a strong start and exhibits the potential for continued and consistent growth in Portage.
Nominees: Bracket and Bin Organizing / Canape Sandwiches / Cordell’s Automotive / The Harbor Recovery Center

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD – This award recognizes Chamber member businesses or individuals that demonstrate and have made an outstanding contribution to the Portage community in service and leadership. The recipient makes a sacrifice of time, helps improve quality of life, motivates others, and enhances the overall community through their efforts and contributions.
Nominees: Kinship Mentoring of Columbia County, Inc. / River Haven Homeless Shelter / Sleep in Heavenly Peace – Portage Chapter
